Robert Blake Science College is an 11-16 comprehensive school where everyone, both students and staff, strives to be the best that they can be.  We value every person in our school community and we are driven by an underlying ethos which is captured in three simple words – ‘Aspire Achieve Celebrate’.  The school is in an exciting time of change having moved into a brand new building in November 2012 and a new Headteacher in post since September 2013. Examinations attainment in 2014 was amongst the best the school has ever achieved, in a time of turbulence in the education system nationally, and student progress, particularly in the core subjects of English and mathematics is improving quickly.

Robert Blake students enjoy their school lives and are very proud of their school. Every decision is made in the best interests of students and is focused on improving learning. We try to create an environment in which students, regardless of ability and background, aspire to do their very best. We believe that personal and academic outcomes are equally as important and as a result we have a strong curriculum and extra-curricular offer, as well as a vibrant house system, which presents students with life changing opportunities and builds the skills and qualities that they need to be successful learners now and in the future. We are very proud of our young people and believe that they are fantastic ambassadors for the school. Students behave well and are polite and courteous. Student voice is active and highly valued by all of us. We operate a ‘prefect’ system which recognises the hard work and commitment of students over the time that they have been in school.

Students at Robert Blake have the privilege of a high quality environment within which to learn.  The new building is set in an elevated position about the Meads and makes full use of the outside space available.  All the wonderful facilities at the school support students as they recognise their talents and aspirations and do everything that they can to ensure that they are ready to learn. We also recognise that good attendance and strong partnerships with parents/careers are particularly important if students are to achieve their very best and therefore they are strong features in the day to day running of the school.

Please do take the time to look at our website and if you would like to know more about the school or wish to visit then please do contact us.

Exam Results Summer 2015

Robert Blake Science College would like to congratulate our Year 11 students of 2015 for their successful examination results.  These outcomes are as a result of the hard work of the students, the support of their family and friends and the dedication of the staff at the school.

There were a large number of individual successes at all ability levels and behind every set of examination results there is a personal story of hard work, commitment and perseverance which we are keen to celebrate.  We have worked very hard with students this year to ensure that the progress that they make is good, based on their individual starting point.  We are able to celebrate this progress with our students today.

This was a fantastic year group with an excellent attitude and we are very proud of them.  These results now allow the students to take the next step in education or training.  We wish them all the best with their futures.

Important School Transport Information for Parent/Carers of Students attending Robert Blake Science College who live in the North Petherton Area.

Free school transport is currently not provided for students attending Robert Blake Science College who live in North Petherton. This is because the majority of the home addresses are within the 3 miles statutory walking distance for entitlement to free school transport.

Following a recent request from a parent for the route from North Petherton to Robert Blake Science College to be assessed under road safety grounds, we are now able to advise parents/carers of a change to entitlement.

Whilst the route to the school is paved, the volume of traffic at one of the crossing points exceeds the recommended level. Therefore, this small section of the route has now been classed as unsuitable to walk/cross. This means that students living in North Petherton will now be entitled to free school transport to Robert Blake Science College until such time as road improvements are made to ensure the route is re-designated as safe.

Parents/carers will need to make an application for school transport by either ringing Somerset Direct on 0300 123 2224 or online at
